What Made Me Unpopular

Looking back, there were more comments in favor of what I shared than raging disapproval, but wow, the backlash I received was quick and harsh.

You may remember back in June during so-called pride month that Target went all-in featuring several pride products as well as atrocious LGBTQ+ products, namely chest compressors and packing boxer briefs.

Sadly, Target has shown no signs of regression for any actions they took in June and even elevated the presence of these kinds of products for Christmastime.

In the video I created and posted on Instagram reels a few days ago, I shared that I was boycotting Target and had been for almost a year now based on the promotion of these kinds of products.

I find no coincidence in the fact that these products are more abundant during the time that we, as believers in Jesus, are celebrating His birth.

My caption in the video was as follows…

Target has taken it up several notches from the June “Pride” products.

Now, fellow Christians, in the most beautiful time of year when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, this store has decided to elevate the presence of LBGTQ+ products.

Their scream couldn’t be louder on where they stand. What about yours?

I’m certainly not saying that you should boycott every store that doesn’t align with your beliefs and values today, but I do believe that is the direction we need to be headed as Christians.

Target is the one store that I’ve personally seen that is unashamedly blasting their worldview onto all kinds of products in awful + disturbing ways.

Where I stand… I’ve boycotted this store for almost a year now. I used to shop there every single week. So, it’s not like it’s somewhere I didn’t ever go and it wasn’t hard for me to give up.

At first, I wasn’t sure I could do it. Then, God came in with His amazing grace like He always does and we’ve been just fine.

It ended up not being as hard as I thought it would be.

Sharing this for your consideration… if all mom’s who believe in Jesus boycotted this store, they would have no other answer but to change.

Was my video a call-to-action for Christians to boycott Target? In many ways, yes, it was. I shared that I am doing this and the reasons why but I also asked, is it time for you to, as well?

Obviously, this post was made for the Christian moms who follow my account, as I specifically mentioned if all moms who believe in Jesus would boycott the store, Target would have to change.

For a long time, Target’s “target” audience has been moms with little kids- we go out for an hour to Target to escape for a bit and have some me time. We go in the store with a list of two items and end up coming out of the store with 20. There’s a reason why young moms are the demographic here.

Some of the rude comments (that were deleted) were condemning me for being against the LGBTQ+ community saying that it wasn’t Christian-like to speak out against them.

Here’s what I want us to know… being polite and showing/being love can be two different things.

Throughout the gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, Jesus was very blunt in His teachings and the reason for His outrightness was not outside of love, but rather, just the opposite… It was because He was in love.

It is not love to teach people that it’s okay to support businesses who are blatantly serving Satan.

It is not love to teach people it’s okay for our kids to see these absolutely grotesque products that go against the very image of God.

It is not love to tell our kids that they can decide in their minds what gender they are no matter what they were born as, and then possibly go on to mutilate their bodies to become the opposite sex.

God created us male and female and you cannot change your gender. Period. No matter how many surgeries you have or hormone injections, no matter how many chest compressors you wear or packing boxer briefs, a boy can never truly be a girl and a girl can never truly be a boy.

I’ll say it again.

A boy can never truly be a girl.

A girl can never truly be a boy.

Will my content become more of this type of thing? I honestly don’t know, but what I do know is that I cannot stay silent about this because it’s too important.

I have a six-year-old little girl, and I refuse to allow gender ideology into her life as much as I possibly can. A small way I can do this is by publicly sharing God’s truth on the platforms He has purposed for me and if that means I lose followers, then I lose followers.

And, I did. I lost quite a bit of followers over this video.

As I responded in a comment to someone, my hope is that before they exited my page, (as many of them announced they were) the truth I shared would be a seed planted.

Hopefully, that seed goes on to be watered by others and grows into a beautiful plant that has been dramatically changed through many other Christians who will also have the courage to stand up and speak out.

My video made me unpopular among the Christians who feel as though they are showing love by supporting communities like LGBTQ+ and stores that they simply refuse to quit shopping at.

Jesus’ words in Luke 6:26 is what I stand on in times like this, “There’s trouble ahead when you live only for the approval of others, saying what flatters them, doing what indulges them. Popularity contests are not truth contests—look how many scoundrel preachers were approved by your ancestors! Your task is to be true, not popular.”
